RESOLVING HYPORHEIC AND GROUNDWATER COMPONENTS OF STREAMBED WATER FLUX USING HEAT AS A TRACER

 

This project was started during my IGERT internship in Fall 2010 at the USGS in Reston, VA, in collaboration with Judson Harvey (USGS) and Eric Henry (UNCW). We used heat as a tracer, an analytical method, and a 2D heat transport model to develop a new method to separately quantify hyporheic and groundwater streambed fluxes. and this method to streambed temperature data from Clear Run, NC.
